Tornado in National Capital Region

Date
25 September 2018

On Friday September 21, 2018, the National Capital Region was struck by two tornadoes that touched down in Dunrobin and Southwest Ottawa, as well as in Gatineau, Quebec. The tornadoes and high winds left devastating damage to trees, powerlines, businesses and homes, leaving many citizens without power for several days.

Thankfully, Agency staff was not heavily impacted and our downtown Ottawa office is functioning as normal.

Unfortunately, one of our clients - Quarry Co-op - was not as lucky and did suffer damage to their buildings. Click here to read the full story. All other co-ops in the area appear to have avoided direct impact.

Our thoughts are with all those affected by Friday’s events. For those in the National Capital Region needing assistance, click here to follow updates from the City of Ottawa’s Emergency Preparedness bulletin.

Plans in Action

The average co-op with an approved capital replacement plan tucks away more than $3,600 per unit in reserves each year--triple the 2007 amount. Does their future hold better windows? New kitchens? Savings mean more choices.
