Our Accountability

The Agency is open about what we do and how well we do it. We are accountable to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), to our founding organization and member, the Co‑operative Housing Federation of Canada (CHF Canada), and to our client housing co-operatives. CMHC and CHF Canada both receive a copy of our audited financial statements. We undergo a compliance audit each year, conducted by a third party, to confirm that we have followed the terms of our agreement with CMHC. We report quarterly, annually and biannually to CMHC on different aspects of our performance and that of our client housing co-operatives as a group.

Every year we publish a report card showing how far we have met our published client service standards. Through our Annual Report we inform CMHC about how the Agency has performed. Every second year, we provide CMHC with a wide-ranging review of our client co-operatives’ performance. Every three years we survey our clients to find out how satisfied they are with our service.

Plans in Action

The average co-op with an approved capital replacement plan tucks away more than $3,600 per unit in reserves each year--triple the 2007 amount. Does their future hold better windows? New kitchens? Savings mean more choices.
