The Agency at the CHF Canada Annual Meeting

Date
3 June 2022

The Agency is excited to be participating in CHF Canada’s in-person Annual Meeting later this month in Halifax.

The meeting, which takes place on 16 – 18 June 2022, is an incredible opportunity to meet fellow co-op members from across Canada. Together, co-operators will take part in educational workshops and make decisions that will help determine the future of Canada’s co-operative housing movement.

We’ll be participating in the conference in several ways, so please accept our invitation to stop by and say hello to our staff.

CHF Canada’s Reconciliation Toolkit Workshop

On Friday 17 June, The Agency is proud to be sponsoring a Member Education Forum workshop titled CHF Canada’s Reconciliation Toolkit.

Presented by Tina Stevens and Patricia Tessier, the workshop will guide you through the Reconciliation Toolkit developed by CHF Canada. It will show you how your co-op can use the toolkit in your own work on reconciliation and how to build stronger relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians.

FCHI – Federal Rental Assistance Program Workshop

As part of the Co-operative Management Conference on Friday 17 June, Agency staff members Francesca Sorace and Meghan Friesen will be leading a workshop on CMHC’s Rental Assistance Program (FCHI-2).

This workshop will provide an introduction for co-ops soon to join and more information for those already in the program, which began on 1 September 2020. The workshop is directed towards cooperatives whose federal operating agreements have ended or will be ending soon.

Annual Meeting Tradeshow

The Agency will have a booth at the tradeshow taking place on Friday starting at 12:00 p.m. and on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. We’ll have some delicious treats to give away, as well as an answer for the trivia contest that CHF Canada is hosting at the tradeshow.

National Business Meetings

Agency staff will also be attending the National Business Meetings on Saturday 18 June. At these meetings members will set the direction and help determine the future of Canada’s co-operative housing movement.

Social activities

And last but important to us, Agency staff will be hoping for a chat with you at any of the great social events that CHF Canada has lined up.

We’re looking forward to seeing you in Halifax!

Tip of the Month

Plans in Action

The average co-op with an approved capital replacement plan tucks away more than $3,600 per unit in reserves each year--triple the 2007 amount. Does their future hold better windows? New kitchens? Savings mean more choices.
